Make a Custom Metal Keychain that displays your name or a unique design to make your keys easy to identify. Use metal letter stamps and a basic stamping procedure to add any kind of text to the Metal Tag. You can also decorate the metal tag to customize it. Find the materials and tools you need at your local craft supply store.
Measure the letter widths of each letter stamp. Add the widths together, plus another 1/16 inch between each letter and no less than 1/8 inch on either end of your name. For example, if your name is Anna, and if each letter is 1/4-inch wide, this adds up to 1 inch. Add another 3/16 inch and 1/4 inch. Use this math problem to make sure you have a tag that is big enough.
Place a blank metal tag on a block of wood on your work table. Stick a piece of masking tape straight across the width of the metal tag below the spot you want the line of text to be. Smooth the tape down across the tag to secure it.
Position the first letter stamp directly above left edge of the tape. Strike about 1/4 inch from the side, straight down, with a firm tap from a hammer.
Place the next letter stamp no less than 1/16 inch to the right of the last one in the series of text and strike the top with the hammer. Repeat this process until you have finished the line of text. Peel the tape off of the tag when you are done.
Open a metal jump ring by pulling the open ends apart with pliers. Slip the jump ring through the hole in the top of the metal tag, add a key ring to the open jump ring and close the jump ring with pliers.
Decorate the surface of the metal tag surrounding the text, gluing rhinestones or other small decorative objects with epoxy adhesive .
